Adopt a Bunny!
Paige
Paige (shown above) is the bunny I'm going to bring home tomorrow. She's very sweet, unfournately her story is not.
Her old owners got her and her sister from a pet store as cute baby bunnies. The problem was bunnies grow up and become kind of like teenagers; crazy and wild. There hormones kicked in and Paige and her sister, Bailey started to fight. They weren't so cute in the eyes of there owners. So they were kept in little cages, given really junky food, and only let out when it was time to clean the cage-which they didn't do often enough. They were surrendered to the shelter and taken to be spayed. Bailey freaked out in the carrier and broke her back because her bones were brittle from lack of proper nutrients. Bailey was put down and Paige was given a special diet to get her calcium levels back up. Yesterday her blood was drawn and her calcium levels are up enough that it's safe to transport her. So tomorrow I'll be bringing her home!

An Insight Into Rabbits
Yesterday I went to my local shelter to visit a bunny (Paige) I'm going to bring home this weekend. There is also another rabbit (Joshua Aiden) in the room I let her out in, this rabbit is typically very dominant and cage territorial. Over the last few weeks I've been spending time with him as well in order to socialize him. So
I took Paige out and she was just sitting on my lap being cuddled. Joshua Aiden immediately let known his
disapproval. He stomped around the cage, chewing on the bars, and watching Paige intently when ever she moved. When I left for the day I put Paige back in her cage and petted her, as I opened the door of the small animal room I saw Joshua Aiden standing up on his hind legs, clearly saying;"What about me?"
A lot of people say that rabbits are stupid animals who like carrots, but really they're so much more. Joshua Aiden was clearly showing jealously and anger. Just last week Toshi had run upstairs and under the bed in my room, I shooed him out. Once he got downstairs into his playroom, he let his annoyance be known: he ignored me and refused to take
a apologetic blueberry. And of course they show there love for us and each other as they groom or show thier contentment as they flop on their backs in the middle of thier cage.

Snowy and Toshi's story
Both of them were rescue bunnies from my local shelter. Snowy was surrendered to the shelter by people whose little son was not very rabbit friendly. Before that he was abandoned in a hutch outside when his owners moved away, he was pretty scared when he came into the shelter; understandably so. In fact he waited a year before I adopted him and as soon as I brought him home he brightened up, binkying (bunny dance) like crazy and cuddling constantly. A couple months later we though that he should have a friend- and that where Toshi came in. Toshi had been surrendered when his owners realized that there life was too hectic for a rabbit. Thankfully after a couple of squabbles and some help from us they bonded and are now best friends :)
